Barry Balmat

Biography
Barry Balmat is director of foundation relations at the RAND Corporation. Prior to this, he directed RAND's office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Balmat has also served as deputy executive director of development. Balmat first joined RAND in 1972 as executive assistant to the president; he left in 1979 after holding the position of chief financial officer. After leaving RAND, he was a partner with Durkee, Sharlit Associates, a management consulting firm specializing in crisis management, and, later, the co-owner and chief executive officer of Coast Wire Tech, a manufacturer and distributor of electronic cable. Prior to joining RAND, Balmat was an operations research analyst with the Office of Management and Budget in Washington, D.C. Balmat received his B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Illinois and his M.B.A. from Stanford University.
