Biography

Sophie C. Brune is an analyst with the Defence and Security Team at RAND Europe. Her research interests lie with defence economics in the United States and Europe, the EU's Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) and the impact of the financial crisis on the armed forces and defence industries across Europe. Brune has previously worked as defence analyst at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs in Berlin (Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik, SWP). She is of German and French citizenship and holds a Ph.D. from the European University Institute (Italy) and an M.A. with honours in international relations with economics from the University of St. Andrews.
