Overview

Biography

Amy G. Cox is a social scientist at the RAND Corporation. Her research addresses organizational change, supply chain management, labor market inequalities, and public assistance programs. She has examined the role that personnel play in implementing institutional change, including supplier relationship management and supply chain risk management in the Department of Defense, and an urban violence prevention initiative for the City of Oakland. She is also investigating potential barriers faced by women and racial-ethnic minorities in the military and civilian leadership of the U.S. Air Force. In recent research, Cox has examined several aspects of women's labor market experiences and analyzed, in a congressionally mandated study, whether gender affects the allocation of federal research funding. She has also investigated welfare programs in California and nationally, including effects of welfare reform, Medicaid and Food Stamp use, and the effects of childbearing rates on public assistance rates. Cox received her B.A. in sociology from Northwestern University and her M.A. and Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Maryland.
