Overview

Biography

Sandy Geschwind is an environmental epidemiologist at RAND. Her research has covered a wide range of topics - from studying the impact of endocrine disrupting chemicals on wildlife for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, to evaluating the effects of pesticide exposures on Gulf War Veterans. She has also worked on issues related to water quality, environmental regulations and assisted in environmental epidemiology guidance in Russia and in Eastern Europe. She has recently completed two projects related to assessing environmental risks in the United Arab Emirates and in Israel. Prior to her work at RAND, Geschwind worked in the Cancer Cluster Program at the Connecticut Department of Health and spent five years as a hazardous waste field investigator for the Environmental Protection Agency. She has received awards from the Agency of Toxic Substances and Disease Registries as well as the EPA for her work. Geschwind began her career as a Marine Research Fellow at the Woods Hole Marine Biological Laboratories and earned her Bachelors from UC Berkeley, and both her Masters in Environmental Health Sciences and Doctorate in Environmental Epidemiology from Yale University.
