As director of the Office of Media Relations (OMR), Jeffrey Hiday works to ensure public awareness and understanding of RAND's work. He oversees strategic planning and daily relations with international and domestic print, broadcast, and Web-based media.

Hiday has directed OMR since February 2008. Before, he was director general in the Department for External Relations at the Asian Development Bank in Manila (2005–2007), where he implemented a new, proactive public communications policy; redesigned the annual report; conducted the bank's first global external perceptions survey; and oversaw a rise in global top-tier media coverage. Hiday previously worked at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London (1999–2005), first as speechwriter and advisor to the bank's president, and then as head of media relations.

Hiday was a journalist for more than 13 years, at The Wall Street Journal in London, Dow Jones Newswires in New York and London, and the Providence Journal, and as a regular commentator on CNBC in London. He covered a host of local, national, and international government and financial issues.
