Biography

Yee-Wei Lim is a physician and health services researcher at the RAND Corporation. His research focuses on quality of care and health care delivery system restructuring. His current work in quality of care includes evaluation of the evidence base for continuous quality improvement studies; evaluation of a large disease management program; developing and implementing a national quality scorecard in Singapore; and developing a health services research program for University of Melbourne School of Medicine. Prior to joining RAND, Lim practiced medicine in various primary care settings in Singapore and also worked in Singapore's Ministry of Health, where he coordinated and developed national public health education programs, including a program to eliminate tuberculosis and a dietary awareness campaign.

Other recent research projects include a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services–funded project examining the public health response to Hurricane Katrina; a project sponsored by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to evaluate the health impact of diagnostic technologies for infectious diseases in developing countries; the development and implementation of a national mental health survey in Singapore; and developing health care system reform policies for Kurdistan.

Lim received his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the National University of Singapore and his Ph.D. in health services from the School of Public Health, University of California, Los Angeles.
