Biography

Teryl K. Nuckols, MD, MSHS is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Health Services Research (with promotion to Associate Profession anticipated in July 2011) and a Health Services Researcher at the RAND Corporation. After completing her training in Internal Medicine at UCLA, she completed the National Research Service Award fellowship at UCLA and received a Masters of Science in Health Services at the UCLA School of Public Health in 2003. She is currently a recipient of a K08 Mentored Clinical Scientist Career Development Award from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). Dr. Nuckols objective is to be uniquely positioned at the intersection of the quality-of-care/patient safety field and the health economics one. Through her Career Development Award, she is working to become expert in economic evaluations of quality/safety interventions, understand the interplay between quality/safety and economic issues, and create a substantive research program examining the costs of implementing quality/safety interventions.
