Biography
Ahmad Idrees Rahmani is an assistant policy analyst at RAND and Ph.D. student at the Pardee RAND Graduate School. Before coming to PRGS he founded and managed a public policy research think tank and a survey research firm in Afghanistan. Rahmani has also worked as professional consultant for a number of international institutions such as the World Bank, Chemonics International, Germany's Technical Cooperation Institution, and The Asia Foundation. Rahmani graduated from the Engineering Faculty of Balkh University and received his master's degree from Stanford University. His work at RAND has focused on security and political studies of Afghanistan and Pakistan, and his dissertation is exploring cultural consensus over characteristics of good political leadership in Afghanistan.
