Biography

Ms. Abby Robyn's research focuses on the implementation of educational innovations. She is currently coordinating the field site data collection for a National Science Foundation sponsored study of the effect of teaching practices on student achievement in science and mathematics, and she is also directing the implementation evaluation of a US Department of Defense nationwide high school JROTC career academy initiative aimed at improving the attendance, achievement, and school-to-work transition of at-risk students in eight urban centers. Her recent work includes studying performance based assessments in science and mathematics, directing the case study component of an evaluation of the national college community service program Learn and Serve America, an examination of service-based programs that promote college going, and a study of the vocational education needs of adult immigrants.
