Mark Schuster is the William Berenberg Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and Chief of General Pediatrics and Vice Chair for Health Policy in the Department of Medicine at Boston Children's Hospital. He was previously Director of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at the RAND Corporation, where he held the RAND Distinguished Chair in Health Promotion.

Dr. Schuster conducts research on child, adolescent, and family issues. Currently, he is leading the AHRQ/CMS-funded Center of Excellence for Pediatric Quality Measurement, which is developing quality measures for national use, and Students for Nutrition and eXercise, a partnership with L.A. Unified School District, funded by the National Institutes of Health, to develop, evaluate, and disseminate a middle school program promoting healthy eating and physical activity. He also heads the L.A. site of "Healthy Passages," which seeks to identify influences on health behaviors by studying approximately 5,000 youth as they progress from age 11 to 16. He has studied worksite health promotion, health disparities, community-based participatory research, family leave, immunizations, children with HIV-infected parents, and the effects of terrorist attacks on stress and coping.

Dr. Schuster received AcademyHealth's Nemours Child Health Services Research Award for early career achievement and the Academic Pediatric Association Research Award for career achievement. He is President-Elect of the Academic Pediatric Association. He received his B.A. from Yale University, his M.D. from Harvard Medical School, his M.P.P. from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, and his Ph.D from the Pardee RAND Graduate School.
