B.S. in history, U.S. Air Force Academy

Overview

Jennifer Walters is a doctoral candidate at the Pardee RAND Graduate School. She is also a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. Walters is a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, class of 2011, where she majored in history and earned a minor in both Russian and German. As a cadet she served as a soaring instructor pilot and women's forum leader. Walters has studied abroad in Ukraine and Russia for various language immersion programs. In the fall of 2010, she spent a semester studying at the St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University where she became increasingly interested in foreign military policy and the relationship between the U.S., Russia, and states of the former Soviet Union. In St. Petersburg, Walters interned at the U.S. Consulate where she led weekly discussions to promote cultural dialogue between Americans and Russians. She also served as an English tutor to Russian university students. Beyond Eastern Europe, Walters is also interested in force modernization and counterterrorism.
