Two opposing arcs define the new RAND corporate headquarters. The arcs reflect the shape of the parcel upon which it was built: an elliptical plot of land with Main Street to the east and an immovable below-ground storm drain to the west. These parameters posed various problems in terms of planning and construction. RAND staff worked closely with architects Paul Danna and José Palacios of Daniel, Mann, Johnson, Mendenhall, Holmes & Narver to successfully design the structure. The arcs also inspired the RAND corporate logo, which represents RAND's distinctive approach to problem solving.
