Energy efficiency was
a top priority in creating the building.
For example, the skin of the structure
uses ledges—or "eyebrows"—over
windows and vertical "fins" between windows. These elements
reduce heat gain by blocking the intense California
sunlight.
To further reduce heat gain, windows were constructed with
special sun-blocking glass and tall-growing coastal redwood
trees have been planted around the exterior.
