Environmental sensitivity was also an important objective in the facility design. For example, the building makes use of sealants, cleansers, fabrics, carpeting, and adhesives that were recycled and contain low "volatile organic compounds." Landscaping incorporates drought-tolerant shrubs and ground cover to minimize water usage. As a result, we have received the U.S. Green Building Council's Gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. The building is one of only 82 new construction projects that have ever qualified for the Gold Certification out of 349 such projects that have achieved any LEED rating.
