Alumni Giving
In 1998 when RAND was celebrating its 50th anniversary, the RAND Alumni Association (RAA) held its first fundraising initiative and more than 200 RAA members contributed over $50,000. Alumni support has remained generous since that start. In 2005, the RAA conducted a two-year campaign to have a conference room on RAND's headquarters campus in Santa Monica named in its honor. The campaign was enthusiastically supported by RAA members and raised $155,000, which has been directed to the RAND President's Fund to support RAND's Investment in People and Ideas program.
The RAND Alumni Association also offers the opportunity for members and donors to make Tribute gifts to honor fellow RAND associates, family members, and friends. Some alumni may also wish to help ensure RAND's future by making a planned gift now, or including a bequest in their wills, through the Planned Giving program.

RAA Tribute to Jim Thomson
As you are aware, Jim Thomson will be stepping down this fall after leading RAND for 22 years. Under his leadership, RAND has increased the breadth and depth of its research, almost tripled its annual budget from $91 million to more than $250 million, grown from 1,050 to more than 1,700 RAND associates across the world, and developed the award-winning Santa Monica headquarters campus.
All gifts to the alumni campaign made in Jim's honor will support RAND's Investment in People and Ideas program. This program is RAND's vehicle for funding research inquiries into critical but often underappreciated policy areas and attracting the world's top talent to focus on these challenges.
