Methods Centers at RAND

The development and application of innovative methodologies has long been a hallmark of RAND research. The Methods Centers at RAND address the increasing need that public policy recommendations and impact require continued investment in a diverse set of innovative and multi-disciplinary methodologies and tools.

Traditional ways of organizing scientific capability by disciplinary background or policy arena are no longer sufficient to accelerate innovation. The Methods Centers at RAND organize research capabilities around a set of analytic methods and tools, which cut across disciplinary boundaries. Each center is responsible for formulating innovative new methods, developing and scaling our analytic tools, and disseminating their methodologies in new ways.

    CCI is devoted to improving the use of state-of-the-art causal inference methods for RAND research projects on important public policy issues by developing new methods in areas where there is a need and by making the application of such methods easily available and understood by all audiences.

  • RAND Center for Decision Making under Uncertainty

    The RAND Center for Decision Making under Uncertainty assesses the depth and breadth of uncertainty and risk levers in policy domains and research pathways. DMU researchers develop and apply RAND's collective expertise to serve projects, which require analytical methods, tools and processes to manage decision-making under uncertainty.
