RAND Gulf States Advisory Board

RAND Gulf States Policy Institute

The RAND Gulf States Policy Institute (RAND Gulf States) was created in December 2005 in the wake of the damage that resulted from the hurricanes that devastated large parts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. The Institute is a collaboration between the RAND Corporation and seven universities in the Gulf States. While the hurricanes provided the impetus for RAND's entry into the region, the work of the Institute encompasses public policy issues that will have a long term impact on development in the three states. RAND has made a long-term commitment to the U.S. Gulf States region.

The Institute conducts policy studies across a wide range of issues including health, education, demographics, housing, economic development, coastal protection and restoration, and criminal justice.

The RAND Gulf States Advisory Board is comprised of leaders from the Gulf States as well as people from outside the region who have the unique skills, knowledge, relationships and expertise that will benefit the Institute in its work.
