    As some states continue to battle over whether to expand their Medicaid programs, RAND research can help provide insight on what's at stake for residents in states that do not expand their programs. States that don't expand Medicaid may have lower direct state budgetary costs, but they may miss out on economic growth and pay more to care for the uninsured.

  • 9.3 Million Increase in Americans with Health Insurance Coverage

    May 19, 2014

    Using nationally representative survey data from the American Life Panel, RAND researchers found a net gain in insurance coverage of 9.3 million from September 2013 to March 2014. This net gain is a result of 14.5 million gaining coverage while 5.2 million of the insured were losing coverage.
