The "Building Interdisciplinary Geriatric Health Care Research Centers" initiative enabled five funded academic institutions to establish centers with coordinated and sustained interdisciplinary geriatric health care research and training programs. Over the course of the initiative, the centers funded 25 pilot projects that brought together junior and senior faculty from different disciplines on specific projects in areas of shared interest.
