Domestic Violence
Every year, tens of thousands of Americans are victims of domestic violence. That is why, in 1989, Congress passed legislation dedicating October as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, in an effort to draw attention to the problem of domestic violence. Congress continues to write legislation and advocacy groups strive to educate and raise awareness, all in order to combat, prevent, and end domestic violence. Through the years, RAND has undertaken a number of studies on the policy issues relevant to domestic violence and its impact. These following studies focus on a variety of aspects of the issues including the homeless, the HIV/AIDS community, and the military's approaches to address domestic violence against or by service members.
