Does the U.S. Health Insurance Market Impede Entrepreneurship?

Project Leaders: Rob Fairlie and Kanika Kapur

Promoting entrepreneurship is viewed as a national priority by governments around the world. This project will conduct a comprehensive study that examines whether the employer-based health insurance system in the U.S. impedes entrepreneurial activity. Our analysis will develop models that examine the effect of employer provided health insurance on transitions to self-employment for working aged adults using several large nationally representative databases.
