Emre Erkut's research agenda revolves around organizational economics, corporate governance, and its regulation. His interest in the economics and governance of organizations is fed by his decade-long career in investment banking, securities research, and management consulting, and formalized by master's-level training in business administration and doctoral-level training in microeconomics and empirical analysis (Rand Graduate School).

His work at RAND has included contributions to synergistic projects such as an exploration of mass litigation patterns in the U.S. securities industry, development of a quantitative methodology for measuring corporate culture, and an analysis of the market for brokerage and investment-advisory services in the U.S., among others.
