Biography Summary
Michael Greenberg is a lawyer and a clinical psychologist by training. He received his Ph.D. from Duke University, and following a psychology internship at Dartmouth Medical Center in New Hampshire, he subsequently received his J.D. from Harvard. Dr. Greenberg worked as an attorney at Ropes & Gray, a large Boston law firm, prior to joining RAND. Dr. Greenberg's work at RAND has included empirical research on topics spanning civil justice, healthcare, and national security. He has recently led or co–led several research projects at RAND, including a survey of medical malpractice plaintiffs' attorneys; a study of risk and liability issues connected with maritime terrorism; and (for the U.S. Army), a study of personnel issues and challenges associated with recent mobilizations by the Army National Guard.
As Associate Director for the RAND Center on Corporate Ethics and Governance, Dr. Greenberg is helping to shape and develop the ICJ's research agenda on related topics. With regard to corporate ethics and governance issues, Dr. Greenberg is particularly interested in how ethical principles are understood and formalized within the business community; in the relationship between business ethics and legal requirements under applicable securities and corporation laws; and in the ways in which institutions of corporate governance can be used to cultivate prosocial decision-making.
