CAPP Hosts Taiwan Delegation

On December 21, CAPP hosted a delegation of Taiwan legislators who were recently elected in the contest of December 1st that handed a major victory to the Democratic Progressive party of President Chen Shui-bian.

The delegation included representatives from the Democratic Progressive Party, the Nationalist Party (or Kuomintang), the People's First Party, and the new Taiwan Solidarity Union Party. Charles Wolf, a senior economic advisor at RAND, began the discussion with remarks on Taiwan's economy, and Ted Harshberger, Director of Project AIR FORCE's strategy and doctrine program, described some of RAND's work with Taiwan's ministry of defense. The group also discussed cross-Strait relations and campaign strategies of Taiwan's different parties.
