CMEPP Hosts Seminar on Palestinian Refugees and the Search for Security

Dr. Robert Bowker, Deputy Director of Studies at the Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies, Australian Defence College, Canberra, Australia visited RAND’s Santa Monica office on November 14, 2002 and RAND's Washington office on November 25 to present seminars to RAND staff on “Palestinian Refugee Mythologies and the Search for Security."

Radio Sawa: The “New Station for a New Generation” in the Middle East

CMEPP sponsored a talk by Norman J. Pattiz, a member of the CMEPP Advisory Board and a Governor on the United States Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), the government agency that presents the international broadcasting voice of the United States through programs such as the Voice of America (VOA) and Radio Liberty. Mr. Pattiz came to RAND to discuss Radio Sawa, the BBG’s new Arabic language station in which he played a preeminent role.

CMEPP Hosts Talk by Lebanese Ambassador

The Lebanese Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Farid Abboud, came to RAND's Santa Monica office to discuss "Lebanon and the Peace Process".

Terrorism and Asymmetric Conflict in Southwest Asia

RAND's Center for Middle East Public Policy and the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP), an international foundation that organizes conferences and training seminars in international security studies, co-sponsored their third annual conference, which focused on terrorism and asymmetric conflict in Southwest Asia.

French Institute for International Relations

RAND organized a conference with the French Institute for International Relations (IFRI) to explore the question, "Franco-American Cooperation in the Middle East: Is Consensus Achievable?" CMEPP Director Jerry Green and other RAND representatives participated in the conference's highly topical discussions and presentations.

Ambassador of Turkey Visits RAND

CMEPP hosted His Excellency O. Faruk Logoglu, the Ambassador of Turkey to the United States, who visited RAND to present remarks and answer questions on the subject of U.S.-Turkey relations.

CMEPP Representatives Participate in Conference on Prospects in the Middle East

The Ditchley Foundations, in association with The Hauser Foundation, hosted a conference on February 8-10, 2002 to examine the opportunities and challenges of political, security and economic issues affecting the Middle East, not only to identify future trends but to also draw conclusions for policy directions.
