About RAND Infrastructure, Safety, & Environment (ISE)
Public safety and other public goods increasingly concern matters of homeland security and science and technology policy. RAND Infrastructure, Safety and Environment (ISE) recognizes these mutual dependencies and others that involve physical infrastructure and the environment. Infrastructure, Safety and Environment consolidates the work of four RAND programs:
- Environment, Energy, & Economic Development
- Homeland Security & Defense
- Safety & Justice
- Transportation, Space, & Technology
The mission of ISE is to improve the development, management, and protection of society's essential built and natural assets, as well as related social assets such as safety and security. ISE conducts research and analysis in homeland security, critical infrastructure protection, public and occupational safety, transportation and transportation safety, the environment, energy, economic development, space, and telecommunications—all areas in which RAND has a long track record and deep reservoirs of expertise.
