Research Support: Project Associate

Under general supervision, Project Associates provide skills and experience within an area of substantive or academic training (e.g., computer science, statistics, logistics, sociology, health administration, child policy, area studies) required for the research project. Project Associates apply quantitative and/or qualitative research tools, methods, to support some or all phases of research including data collection, analysis, and dissemination. Under general supervision of a research leader, the Project Associate collects, enters, and organizes data and other information to support research projects; carries out basic analytic tasks; organizes materials for and provides draft inputs to written products such as literature reviews, project documentation, progress reports, research reports, and briefings. Project Associates may provide administrative research support to projects such as supervision of nonexempt or field staff, coordination of IRB reviews, management of field data collection, and coordination of day-to-day project operations. Project Associates are responsible for identifying and selecting project opportunities, maintaining coverage, and fulfilling project commitments.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent and 2-4 years relevant professional work experience.

  • 2-4 years relevant professional work experience plus a BA/BS in a technical field such as engineering, statistics, or computer science; another field with strong empirical and/or modeling skills training may qualify for some positions. Master's degree in a technical field such as engineering, statistics, or computer science may replace up to 2 years of required experience.
  • Foreign language skills, computer programming capabilities, training in data collection or data analysis techniques, or project coordination skills may be required or preferred for some positions. Must show evidence of ability to carry out research support tasks under general supervision.
