Research on Children and Families
Demographic concerns play an increasingly prominent role in policy debates at every level, and individuals and families make the decisions that affect major demographic processes. The program's work in U.S. demographics focuses on the relevant behavior of individuals and families and their responses to economic incentives and societal constraints. Major themes have been the changing household and family structures, family formation and dissolution, adolescent childbearing, maternal and child well-being, poverty and income disparities, neighborhood and community influences, and the demography of labor markets.
