Reading Reviews

The RRSG report is the product of a dynamic, iterative process that reflects the inputs of numerous researchers, practitioners, and other members of the reading research community.
The RAND Reading Study Group (RRSG) sought to define a core problem of reading education to map out a comprehensive, long range program of research and development that will assist the nation in dealing with that problem. To that end, they began by drafting a preliminary paper, which was made available via a variety of methods, including through the web site, and in hard copy to an expert group of professionals in the field. After incorporating the feedback they received as a result of numerous reviews and comments, the study group created a plan to guide further work on the document. Finally, after meeting again in July, the study group produced the final document below. It is our hope that this document will be an accurate reflection of consensus in the field, and will be useful in guiding the formulation of future research agendas nationwide.
