About the Speaker
Dr. Bickel is the Principal Investigator of 4 NIDA grants including an
Institutional Training Award. He is Editor of the journal, Experimental
and Clinical Psychopharmacology, has co-edited three books, and published
over 200 papers. He participated in the public policy debate regarding
methadone treatment in Vermont and serves as the Director of Vermont’s
first methadone treatment program. He has served as President of the
Division of Psychopharmacology and Substance Abuse of the APA and is
the Incoming President-Elect of CPDD. His research includes (1) the application
of behavioral economics to drug dependence with a recent emphasis on
delay discounting, (2) the clinical pharmacology of buprenorphine, and
(3) the use of information technologies to deliver science-based prevention
and treatment.
