About the Speaker
Dr. Rawson has worked in the substance abuse field since 1974. He has conducted clinical research in the area of substance abuse treatment and has published extensively in the field. He has been the principal investigator on numerous NIDA, NIAAA, and private research grants. He is a frequent grant reviewer for NIDA and has served often as a consultant to CSAT and to the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs. Recently, he was an invited participant at CSAT planning sessions on managed care with state directors of alcohol and drug programs and a group of provider representatives from around the U.S. He has helped author three CSAT TIPS and was a co-author on the CSAT TAP for methadone program counselors. Dr. Rawson currently serves as Associate Director of the UCLA Integrated Substance Abuse Programs in Los Angeles, California.
