The Changing U.S. Population and Future Demand for Air Travel.
Explores several aspects of population change and its bearing on future demand for air travel, based on RAND's studies for the National Population Commission: (1) the sudden decrease in Americans' fertility from a three- to a two-child level per family, (2) the increased income enjoyed by a population with fewer children, (3) the population's greater migration and transience, and (4) the tendency for territorially-based communities of the past to give away to "place-less" communities centered around professions, corporations, and widely dispersed networks of families and friends. 11 pp.

This report is part of the RAND Corporation paper series. The paper was a product of the RAND Corporation from 1948 to 2003 that captured speeches, memorials, and derivative research, usually prepared on authors' own time and meant to be the scholarly or scientific contribution of individual authors to their professional fields. Papers were less formal than reports and did not require rigorous peer review.
