This publication is an attempt to assess the role of transportation and communication (the aggregate performance of which has not been measured before) in the Soviet Union's overall economic growth. The primary method is by comparison between output and input increases in transport and communications, and by comparison between the United States and the Soviet Union in this and other economic areas.
