About RQPI

The RAND-Qatar Policy Institute (RQPI) is committed to helping make changes that make a difference for its clients across the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia.

The nations in this region face daunting challenges: Providing children with a good education. Giving people the health care they need. Building effective infrastructures. Creating efficient, transparent government agencies. Preserving the environment and valuable national resources. Making sure that citizens feel secure.

These problems have no easy solutions. Their enormous scope, constraints on budgets and resources, conflicting interests, and a lack of reliable information and clear analysis can lead to measures that are less than effective—or to no change at all.

RQPI works closely with decisionmakers who want to make things better:

  • Examining complex issues. We provide objective, thorough analysis that explains challenges and options.
  • Developing sound plans for action. We offer informed recommendations for sustainable solutions.
  • Build capacity, providing training and work experience that develop in-house capabilities to analyze and implement policies.
  • Effecting lasting change. We design strategies for implementation and know how to anticipate—and surmount—the inevitable stumbling blocks.

Getting Results to the Right People

Busy decisionmakers need clear, relevant communications. Ensuring that results are both understandable and accessible is one of the things RAND does best. Each year, RAND researchers make frequent presentations and publish hundreds of books, reports, articles, and research summaries to inform and advise clients, while enriching and shaping the public debate on prominent issues.

RQPI has a broad and diverse geographic scope, spanning from Mauritania to Bangladesh, and covering the areas of North Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia.
