The Boorman Review: Developing an Evidence Base for NHS Staff Health and Wellbeing

two doctors and a surgeon 19 August 2009—The Department of Health initiated an NHS Health and Wellbeing review in November 2008, following the report "Working for a Healthier Tomorrow" published in March 2008. The review was tasked with: gathering evidence on NHS staff health and wellbeing; developing an evidence base for potential action to improve the health and wellbeing of the staff; and with making practical recommendations for improvements in staff's health and wellbeing across the whole NHS. The review is headed by Dr Steve Boorman.

Against this background, The Work Foundation led a partnership with RAND Europe and Aston Business School undertaking the research and analysis to support the review. RAND Europe led on the literature review, staff perception survey, the call for evidence, and the identification of international good practice work supporting the Boorman Review.

Findings from the Boorman Review Interim Report can be viewed on the NHS Health and Wellbeing website.
