Human Biospecimen Data Collection Database

The Human Biospecimen Data Collection project provides a Web-based, searchable database of biospecimens collected, stored, and distributed by biorepositories for research purposes. The Web site was developed under contract with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Rare Diseases (ORD).

Improving Decisions in a Complex and Changing World

Climate change presents public and private sector decisionmakers with a fundamental quandary: how to address a potentially serious, long-term, and deeply uncertain threat. Among other goals, this project is designed to strengthen the scientific foundations of robust decisionmaking (RDM), a promising new approach to computer-assisted support for decisionmakers facing deep uncertainty.

National Computer Security Survey

Sponsored by the U.S. Departments of Justice and Homeland Security, the National Computer Security Survey will report on the number and consequences of cyber attacks, frauds and thefts of information among the 5.3 million businesses in the United States.

Safe Neighborhoods

Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) is a comprehensive, strategic approach to reducing gun violence in America coordinated locally through U.S. Attorneys’ offices and funded by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Safe Start Evaluation Project

Children who are exposed to violence can experience negative social and psychological effects both at the time of the exposure and throughout their life. Finding effective programs to improve children’s chances of future social and psychological well being is the goal of a joint ISE-RAND Health project, funded by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP).

Terrorism Database

The Terrorism Incident Database defines and categorizes terrorist attacks in order to help analysts, policymakers, and practitioners understand general trends in the threat. It is based on over 30 years of research by analysts at RAND. Right now the database is not available on the web, but searches can be run by special request.

 

Past ISE Projects & Resources

RaDiUS Database

When active, RaDiUS was the most comprehensive database of the Research and Development (R&D) that is funded by the United States Federal Government. RaDiUS was developed by RAND, in cooperation with the National Science Foundation (NSF), to support the work of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), federal agencies, and all others interested in the federal R&D portfolio.

The contract for RaDiUS operations and maintenance has ended, and this resource is no longer available. Inquiries from current users concerning access to such R&D data should be directed to NSF's Dr. Della-Piana at cdellapi@nsf.gov.
