James T. Case, DVM, PhD, MS

Professor of Clinical Diagnostic Informatics
California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory
University of California, Davis.

He was Information Systems Administrator for the CAHFS from 1986 until 1995 when his efforts were directed towards the development of veterinary information standards. Dr. Case is heavily involved in standards development organizations and currently serves as the AVMA liaison to the Logical Observation Identifier Names and Codes Committee and both the AVMA and AAVLD liaison to Health Level Seven.

Dr. Case currently serves as the chair of the AVMA Committee on Veterinary Medical Informatics and chair of the AAVLD Informatics Committee. He also sits on the steering committee for eLEXNET, and is a member of the Laboratory Operations and Communications Workgroup of the National Food Security System, the Data Standards Subcommittee of the United States Animal Identification Plan and the Information Technology Workgroup for the National Animal Health Laboratory Network.
