Third Summit on Information Technology Infrastructure for Bioterrorism Opportunities and Gaps in Surveillance and Communications Thursday, April 4, 2001 RAND 1200 South Hayes Street Arlington, Virginia On April 4, 2002 the Science and Technology Policy Institute will convene participants for the third Summit to continue their work on an information technology infrastructure for bioterrorism that was begun in November 2001. The Summit participants are a diverse group who represent major stakeholders and experts in the field of health informatics and public health. This meeting will focus on identifying what technologies are available and any gaps in technology that threaten our nations ability to respond quickly and effectively. The work of the summit group will be posted at http://www.rand.org/scitech/stpi/Infrastructure/index.html. The results of the first summit meeting, summarized in the draft white paper, can be downloaded at this site. Comments are welcome. The product of the second Summit, a detailed description of the requirements for communications and surveillance, should be available before the April 3 and 4 meetings.
