Competitive Sourcing
Task Force

The Space Shuttle Competitive Sourcing Task Force was commissioned by NASA to reexamine the role that NASA and the contractor community play in operating the Space Shuttle. The Science and Technology Policy Institute at the RAND Corporation (S&TPI) supported the Task Force's efforts, which were sponsored by NASA's Office of Human Spaceflight. S&TPI is a federally funded research and development center for studies and analysis that supports the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and other Executive Branch agencies, offices, and councils. The Institute is sponsored by the National Science Foundation and, at the time this work was completed, was managed by RAND.

The Task Force has completed its final report. At NASA's request, RAND is making the Task Force report and the executive summary available through the S&TPI Web site. You may follow the links below:
