Many of the organizations we have created for national and international governance, such as the United Nations and World Bank, are now 30 to 60 years old. As we enter the new millennium, just how effective are these organizations likely to be in protecting the environment in an increasingly globalized economy? What role will multinational corporations and transnational advocacy networks play in a New World order? What about our domestic environmental agencies?
