The Malaysian Family Life Surveys were conducted in 1976-1977 and 1988-1989. The surveys collected detailed current and retrospective information on family structure, fertility, economic status, education, and more from a partially-overlapping sample of more than 4,000 individuals and households.

Current unrest in the Malay-Muslim provinces of southern Thailand has captured growing national, regional, and international attention due to the heightened tempo and scale of rebel attacks, the increasingly jihadist undertone that has come to characterize insurgent actions, and the central government's often brutal handling of the situation on the ground. This paper assesses the current situation and its probable direction.

Reliability of Reasons for Early Termination of Breastfeeding: Application of a Bivariate Probability Model with Sample Selection to Data from Surveys in Malaysia in 1976-77 and 1988-89 — Dec 31, 2005

This study investigates, for a sample of 1,327 births, the reliability with which women in Peninsular Malaysia recalled, at intervals 12 years apart, reasons for not initiating or for stopping breastfeeding less than 3 months after a birth.

The Impact of Wives' Earnings on Earnings Inequality Among Married-couple Households in Malaysia — May 12, 2005

Analyze the effects of wives' earnings on household earnings' inequality in Peninsular Malaysia in 1976 and 1988. We find that wives' earnings helped equalize the distribution of household earnings in Malaysia, both at the two points in time and over time.
