Overview

Rowan Allport is a senior analyst at RAND Europe working in the area of defence, security and infrastructure. His professional background is centred on defence and public affairs. He previously served for five years as a senior fellow and Security and Defence team lead at the Human Security Centre. Highlights of his time there included the publication of an Alternative SDSR and a report analysing NATO’s Northern Flank strategy, as well as addressing Royal Navy and NATO MARCOM audiences on issues relating to UK and allied security. His defence analysis has also been published by outlets including Foreign Policy, The Diplomat, The Hill and DefenseOne.

Additionally, Allport has worked in Westminster public affairs as a political consultant with the Whitehouse Consultancy. This experience saw him support clients in the health, education and defence sectors.

Allport is a graduate from the University of Hull and holds an M.A. in conflict, governance and development and a Ph.D. in politics from the University of York.
