Livia Dewaele is a research assistant at RAND Europe, working in the area of defence, security and infrastructure. Her research interests span a wide range of defence and security-related issues, including terrorism, extremism, the process of defence and security decision-making, and social and political polarisation.

Prior to joining RAND, she completed a master's in international relations at the University of Chicago, and a bachelor's in modern languages and linguistics at the University of Oxford. She also worked at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, a London-based think tank, where she focused on polarisation and online extremism.
