Livia Dewaele is an analyst at RAND Europe, working in the area of defence and security. She works on a wide range of defence and security-related issues, including counter-terrorism and preventing and countering violent extremism; global conflict analysis; the impact of emerging technology on defence; logistics strategy; and the defence workforce. She has contributed to policy research projects for a range of clients including the UK Ministry of Defence, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, the UK Home Office, the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Australian Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. 

Prior to joining RAND, she completed a master's in international relations at the University of Chicago, and a bachelor's in modern languages and linguistics at the University of Oxford. She also worked at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, a London-based think tank, where she focused on polarisation and online extremism.
