Overview

Eleftheria Iakovidou is a research assistant at RAND Europe working in the areas of education, child and family policy. She has an M.Sc. in special and inclusive education from the University of Bristol and a B.Sc. in social and education policy from the Department of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Peloponnese in Greece.

While an M.Sc. student, she conducted various quantitative and qualitative research projects in the field of inclusive education, with particular interest in the education of migrant, refugee and asylum seeking children. Her M.Sc. dissertation focused on the education of refugee children in Greece and the role of art interventions in the creation of inclusive, formal and informal educational environments.

    Celebrating Children's Rights Is Important, but More Progress Is Needed

    The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which set a legal framework and put children's rights firmly on the international policy agenda, was adopted 30 years ago November 20th. While there are a number of initiatives in place, more work could be done to maximize children's involvement in policy and decision-making on issues that affect their lives.
