Overview

Jennifer J. Li is a senior management scientist and applied linguist at the RAND Corporation, as well as a member of the Pardee RAND Graduate School faculty. She conducts research on language education, language policy, organization development, training, and workforce issues. She recently led the implementation analysis of a four-year study funded by the U.S. Department of Education on the implementation and effects of dual-language immersion in a K-12 public school district in Portland, Oregon. Other projects focus on manpower and organizational issues in national security, including recruiting, professionalism, and leader development for the U.S. Air Force and Army.

Her past research has addressed language training, professional development, assessment, and policy, and the retention of heritage languages among children of immigrants. She holds a B.A. in linguistics from Cornell University, along with an M.A. in teaching English as second language, a Ph.D. in applied linguistics, and an M.B.A. in management and organizational behavior, all from the University of California, Los Angeles.
