This report identifies and describes means to allay significant challenges to the fielding of new Air Force nuclear weapon systems, with a focus on the integrated planning and preparation for mission success across programs.

Jake McKeon is an assistant policy researcher at RAND and a Ph.D. student at the Pardee RAND Graduate School. He has an M.B.A. and an M.S. in finance from Indiana University and a B.S. in economics from the United States Air Force Academy. He is currently an active duty officer in the U.S. Air Force.
Prior to joining Pardee RAND, he was an acquisition program manager for several organizations, including the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, and the Space and Missile Systems Center at Los Angeles Air Force Base. He managed the acquisition of aircraft, ICBM, and space systems. His research interests include acquisition policy, space policy, nuclear security policy, decisionmaking under uncertainty, and real options valuation.
