Improving Working Memory Plus Arithmetic: Evaluation Report
This evaluation tested the effectiveness of the Improving Working Memory + Arithmetic (IWM+A) intervention on improving the working memory and numeracy skills of children in Year 3.
Fin Oades is a junior analyst at RAND Europe. He has contributed to a wide variety of projects with a quantitative focus, and whilst he has special interest in both RCTs and QEDs, particularly in the context of assessing the impact of educational interventions, he has experience working across a variety of subject areas. His recent projects include an RCT assessing the impact of an educational intervention designed to improve working memory and arithmetic among year 3 pupils, the design of a large-scale international survey on early years care provision using psychometric analysis techniques, a mixed methods review of the evidence pertaining to roadside drug testing technology, and an ongoing mixed-methods process evaluation of the treatment and recovery portfolio within the UK Drug Strategy.
Prior to joining RAND, he completed his M.Sc. in social policy and social research at University College London, with substantive focus on applying quantitative research methods in policy research.
