Ian Olfarnes

Ian Olfarnes an M.Phil. student at the RAND School of Public Policy and an assistant policy researcher at RAND. His background is in Eastern European affairs, holding an M.A.and B.A. in Eastern European Studies from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. His academic work focuses on how Russia’s strategic narratives and military doctrines shape its regional behavior and foreign policy. Olfarnes has contributed to projects examining Russian tactical adaptations in Ukraine as well as analysis of Army doctrine.
