John F. Raffensperger is Senior Operations Researcher at the RAND Corporation and Professor at the Pardee RAND Graduate School.
Born and raised in Chicago, Raffensperger obtained a B.S. in industrial engineering from Northwestern University, later attending the University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business for an M.B.A. and Ph.D., studying Army training readiness. Prior to joining RAND, he was a Senior Lecturer in Management Science at the University of Canterbury, in Christchurch, New Zealand. For most of the past decade he has focused on auction theory, environmental economics, and markets for water resources.
His research interests include optimization, risk analysis, logistics, scheduling, and combinatorial optimization. He is currently working on Army readiness and logistics.
