Overview

Benjamin Smith is a doctoral candidate at the Pardee RAND Graduate School and an assistant policy researcher at the RAND Corporation. While at RAND, he has done work on financial decision making, workforce training and development, renewable energy system design, and operations security. His other research interests include decision making under uncertainty and finance.

Prior to RAND, Smith was a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy, where he was deployed to the Western Pacific and Middle East theaters aboard a Los Angeles–class submarine. He then served as the deputy director of Nuclear Officer Accessions at Navy Recruiting Command, overseeing the recruitment and preparation of officers for the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
